General Session: Alphabet Soup - Translation for Design

Speaker:  Ellen Taylor - VP for Research - The Center for Health Design

Description: The process of EBD links design and outcomes, including safety and satisfaction, but a new alphabet soup of acronyms has been added to our lingo. The PPACA and P4P has heightened awareness of QOC; VBP, HCAHPS, and HACs now influence reimbursement. To help designers optimize well-being and overall system performance, the presentation will provide a translation and help make sense of the drivers behind the measures and role of design in complex health care systems.

Roundtable Breakout Sessions

Guests will be divided into three groups, where session leaders will conduct discussions based upon the HCAHPS discussion on design issues related to HCAHPS outcomes for improvement such as, infection control, fall risk, medical and/or medication errors, etc. In this collaborative session, participants will work together to answer that question for a case study environment provided. All attendees will reconvene to compare talking points from the three breakout roundtable sessions and discuss what each segment of the market can learn from the other.
